Summer has well and truly arrived, and with it … festivals!

Whether you are planning on going to a well-established festival, such as Maes B at the National Eisteddfod, or going to a more recent one such as the Green Man Festival or Festival No. 6, this guide will give you some fashion ideas on what to wear. Here are my top five essential fashion items that are a must for your time at a festival.

The first thing you will need (and definitely the most important!) is a pair of comfy shoes. The last thing you need when you are partying hard is to be secretly suffering with a painful blister! Remember that you will be most likely trudging around a muddy field continuously for three to five days, so best leave your flip flops and stiletto heels at home! It would be advisable to bring a pair of wellies, but perhaps also another couple of pairs of shoes too - low heeled boots or trainers would be good options - just in case the weather is sunny and delightful. But don't count on it!

Next, you will need a coat. It could be in the form of an anorak or a fold-up poncho. This is especially advisable if you are going to a festival in the UK, as we are not renowned for great summer weather! It would probably be better to take one that is more lightweight rather than a thicker one, as the weather won’t necessarily be chilly, just rainy. I am really loving the transparent PVC plastic rain coats that are available at the moment. They are extremely lightweight, versatile and can easily fit into a rucksack!

The third thing that you could bring, although not essential, is a band T-shirt of some kind. What better way to show off and express your individual music taste with a crowd of 90,000 plus people?! You may even make some new festival friends during your stay that like similar artists. So, whether you are into Funeral for a Friend or Stereophonics, remember to show your appreciation and rock that tee!

Number four on the list is a pair of sunglasses. Take a pair just in case a miracle happens and a ray of sunshine hits your tent! I would recommend the holographic rounded glasses that are on trend at the moment. I just love the overall bohemian look of them. They definitely fit in with the festival vibe!

The final fashion essential is a statement necklace. No festival outfit would be complete without one! I find that it really makes an outfit and pieces it together perfectly. I am really liking the grungy metal ones at the moment, as they are unique and bold.

That is my list of the five essential items for heading to a festival this summer. Have an awesome time … party like you have never partied before and enjoy every moment!
