Review: The Belle Vue Bistro, Swansea

Review: The Belle Vue Bistro,

The Belle Vue Bistro

Tucked around the corner of the main street leading from Swansea railway station, opposite The Dragon Hotel, The Belle Vue Bistro was a real find. Pleasant and welcoming from the outside, patrons were sat outside enjoying coffees in the early spring sun, watching the world go by.

Inside, the restaurant is smartly presented; very clean modern and unpretentious.

We were warmly welcomed, showed (our pre-booked) table quickly and menus and table water followed soon after. Drinks orders were taken, and brought over quickly, and the house red and white were delicious and good value for money.

For starters, I had the mozzarella salad and my partner the panko coated calamari. The salad was tasty (it lacked a little salt for my palette; though soon resolved), but the calamari was absolutely delicious (and very generous in terms of portion size). I would love to have this when we return.

For main course, I had chicken parmiagiana (with fantastic handmade/handcut chips) and my partner the fiorentina pizza, which was generously decorated with spinach, olives, two eggs and Parmesan. Both were freshly cooked and delicious. My partner had opted for the larger sized pizza (there are two sizes available), and he was determined to finish it as it was so delicious.

Service was always attentive and friendly, with plates cleared away when finished with and fresh drinks brought over quickly.

The specials board had some interesting options, including wild boar ravioli, which sounded different.

The restaurant also offers a set menu and an extensive list of pasta and meat dishes, so there is something for everyone. You can see what was on the set menu offer here:

The wine list is well-priced and offers a decent range of drinks to accompany your choices. Checkout the wine list here:

Three glasses of wine and two courses (for two) came to less than £50.00, which we thought excellent value for money.
