The steel hard women of Saskatchewan
Pour down into the mining towns
And breathe in the snowflake speckled air
While swimming in wedding frocks
That spread and hang like ghosts
in the aspic.

Night falls and crushes the railroads
Till the tin plane is forced to spin to a halt
The stiff wire protruding at a
Thirty degree angle to the runway
Just passing over
The red and yellow hills.

Boyd Clack, September 2017

Boyd writes:
The poem is about the toy islands with a little aeroplane that flew around them on a stiff wire, that existed in the fifties. I had one for Christmas. The Canadian women represent my mother and her wedding day in 1942.
